SAN ANTONIO – A man is in critical condition after colliding with a semi-truck attempting to avoid colliding with a different vehicle.<\/p>\n
Around 5:35 pm on Friday, police were called to the scene of the major collision along New Laredo Highway on the South Side, between Cassin Road and Plumnear Road.<\/p>\n
According to the San Antonio Police Department, a 18 wheeler was traveling Northeast on New Laredo Highway, when a vehicle in front of him began to slow down and come to a stop.<\/p>\n
The driver of the semi truck stated he applied his brakes and veered into the oncoming lanes in an attempt to avoid a collision.<\/p>\n
However, the victim, identified as a 22-year-old male, was traveling the opposite direction in the Southwest bound lanes of New Laredo Highway, and the two vehicles collided.<\/p>\n
The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition. The driver of the 18-wheeler remained on scene and cooperated with officers.<\/p>\n
