as possible on Saturday morning.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn-channels-pixel.ex.co\/events\/0012000001fxZm9AAE?integrationType=DEFAULT&amp;template=design%2Farticle%2Fplatypus_two_column.tpl\" alt=\"\" class=\"x1px y1px vh abs\" aria-hidden=\"true\" width=\"1\" height=\"1\"\/><\/p>\n<p>The Lady Bulldogs pounced on El Paso Montwood with four runs in the top of the first inning and they never lost the momentum in Game 2 of a Class 6A Division II bi-district playoff series.<\/p>\n<p class=\"uiTextSmall f aic jcc\">Article continues below this ad<\/p>\n<p>Malyah Carrillo pitched a one-hitter and Marley Porter had four RBI to propel Midland High to an 11-0 win over the Lady Rams in five innings at Martin Field.<\/p>\n<p>The Lady Bulldogs (33-3) swept the three-game series, extended their win streak to 19 games, and they advance to the area round for the sixth straight season when they will face either Weatherford or Trophy Club Nelson at a time, date and location to be determined.<\/p>\n<p>Midland\u2019s blowout win on Saturday was much different from Friday when it rallied for three runs in the bottom of the seventh to beat Montwood, 7-6, on a walk-off two-run single from Mireya Rodriguez.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe just know our level of ability that we\u2019re able to play,\u201d Porter said. \u201cWe know that yesterday wasn\u2019t our best. We just came out here and decided to score every inning and we were going to do that no matter what it took.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"uiTextSmall f aic jcc\">Article continues below this ad<\/p>\n<p>Porter added the Lady Dawgs had extra motivation to take care of business early on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have prom tonight so we wanted to make sure we got to all of our appointments and we wanted the quickest way to do that,\u201d Porter said.<\/p>\n<p>Rodriguez plated a run with a sacrifice fly, Ryleigh Thiebaud added an RBI double, and Emeri Ream provided a run-scoring triple during the Lady Dawgs\u2019 four-run first.<\/p>\n<p>The Lady Bulldogs finished strong by scoring three runs apiece in the fourth and fifth innings.<\/p>\n<p class=\"uiTextSmall f aic jcc\">Article continues below this ad<\/p>\n<p>Porter had a two-run single in the fourth and added an RBI double in the fifth.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think they came out, they were focused and they were able to able to start hitting from the very beginning and put some pressure on them,\u201d Lady Dawgs coach Shawnda Vines said. \u201cI think we had the ability to hang onto it and keep building. It was really fun to watch them locked in and scoring almost every inning, that\u2019s hard to do against a quality team like that, so I was really, really proud of them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Carrillo was masterful in the circle as she issued no walks, while striking out two. Montwood\u2019s only hit against Carrillo was a two-out triple from Jaeda Quinones in the third.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe mainly stayed outside and threw changeups,\u201d Carrillo said of the plan. \u201cThat really worked. That got grounders and pop ups and a couple of strikeouts.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"uiTextSmall f aic jcc\">Article continues below this ad<\/p>\n<p>Added Vines: \u201cShe had a great game in the circle I thought. She kept them off the basepaths.
