SAN ANTONIO – A woman is recovering after being seriously injured in a dog attack Friday morning.<\/p>\n
The attack happened around 10 a.m. near the 1700 block of Martinez Losoya Road. <\/p>\n
According to the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office, a 49-year-old woman was attacked by a pit bull. The woman suffered multiple bites to the left side of her body and significant blood loss. <\/p>\n
Witnesses told deputies the woman was being dragged during the attack. <\/p>\n
She was transported to University Hospital, where she has since stabilized.<\/p>\n
The dog\u2019s owner left the scene with the animal before deputies arrived. Animal control officers later located both the dog and its owner. <\/p>\n
The owner initially told the caller she had returned home and shot the dog, but investigators determined that claim was not true.<\/p>\n
The owner was issued three citations, including dogs running free of restraint, failure to vaccinate for rabies, and a dangerous dog attack causing bodily injury.<\/p>\n
