Thousands gathered in Southtown to witness the King William Fair’s parade, which was flavored with a “bake-off” theme for 2026. <\/p>\n

SAN ANTONIO \u2014 When it comes to Fiesta parades, Battle of Flowers and Fiesta Flambeau may be the headliners, but King William Fair’s street parade is no mere sibling.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Thousands congregated in Southtown on Saturday morning to watch the kickoff to a parade, anchored early on with appearances by local leaders\u2014Mayor Gina Ortiz Jones and Bexar County Judge Peter Sakai among them, waving and tossing out medals.\u00a0<\/p>\n

If any visitors didn’t know what the theme of this year’s parade, they found out soon enough: The Great Fiesta Bake-Off, “a delicious celebration of creativity, community, and culture.”<\/p>\n

Neighborhood-friendly floats boasted huge cakes (not edible, but tasty-looking nonetheless), the wheels on classic convertibles sported conchas and even the typically eye-catching headwear of Fiesta featured a pastry-themed vibe.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The parade, which kicked off at 9 a.m. and spanned several blocks while weaving through Historic King William, also featured the familiar local high schools bands, Fiesta royalty, local organizations and pooches in their best Fiesta garb.\u00a0<\/p>\n
