Morton took a pre-draft visit with the Patriots and will start off his NFL career behind Drake Maye and Tommy DeVito.<\/p>\n
The Texas Tech product is 6-foot-2, 218 pounds and competed 66% of his passes for 2,780 yards with 22 touchdowns and six interceptions as a senior. He rushed for seven career touchdowns over 45 games with 36 starts.<\/p>\n
The Patriots needed a third developmental option after releasing<\/a> backup Joshua Dobbs this offseason. DeVito was re-signed<\/a> to a two-year contract this offseason.<\/p>\n Morton, 24, threw for 8,986 career yards with 71 touchdowns, 28 interceptions and a 62.9 completion percentage over five years at Texas Tech.
