WACO, Texas \u2014 The UNT track and field team competed at the Michael Johnson Invitational at Baylor on Friday and Saturday and came away with three event wins and a pair of new program records for junior sprinter Aariyana Williams<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Williams continues to leave her mark on the program record book after she set new marks in both the women’s 200-meter dash and 400-meter dash, the latter of which was broken by nearly a full second and had previously stood for seven years.<\/p>\n

Williams finished fourth in the 200 on Friday in 23.43 to set a new program record. On Saturday, she won the 400 in 52.26, breaking the previous mark of 53.13 set by Aneesa Scott in 2019.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The other two UNT wins came from Clarence McGill<\/a> in the men’s 400 hurdles, as he ran a 51.23 to narrowly edge out teammate Tyler Moore<\/a>, who took second in 51.25. The Mean Green scored another 1-2 finish in the women’s 5,000-meter run, as London Maxwell<\/a> ran away from the field to take first in 16:52.21, and teammate Ximena Lopez de Escalera<\/a> took second in 17:14.27.<\/p>\n

The men’s 5000 saw UNT take second and third with Connor Bartek<\/a> and Nolan House<\/a> having strong races, as House clocked a new personal best time. Trinity Trotter<\/a> took second in the women’s 1,500. Joseph Wienen<\/a> finished third in the men’s 1,500.<\/p>\n

UNT had a couple of big personal bests for third-place finishes on Friday, led by Anthony Ward’s<\/a> third-place finish in the men’s long jump with a jump of 7.72 meters for a new PR and the third-best jump in program history. Olivia Hildebrand<\/a> finished third with a new PR in the women’s discus with a throw of 50.32 meters.<\/p>\n

The Mean Green had a pair of third-place finishes on Saturday, as Jeremiah Cams<\/a> finished third in the men’s high jump and Chase Lehr<\/a> took third in the men’s 800. Dominique Hall<\/a> finished fourth in the men’s triple jump with a leap of 15.48 meters, which is the fourth-best mark in program history and the best since 1982.<\/p>\n

UNT will have its final tuneup for the American Conference Outdoor Championships when they travel to Dallas on Friday and Saturday for the SMU Invitational.
