An El Paso teen driver was killed and a teen passenger was seriously injured when a speeding sports car crashed into a concrete barrier in the far East Side, police said.<\/p>\n

The crash occurred at 3:25 a.m. Sunday, April 26, in the 12200 block of Montana Avenue, just east of Loop 375, near the Walmart Supercenter and numerous other stores and restaurants<\/a>, El Paso police reported.<\/p>\n

The driver, Erick Holguin, 18, was killed in the crash and passenger Jonathan Reyes, 17, was hospitalized with serious injuries, a news release issued by police spokeswoman Detective Judy Oviedo stated.<\/p>\n

The westbound lanes of Montana Avenue were closed following an early-morning car crash that killed an 18-year-old driver just east of Loop 375 in far East El Paso, Texas, on Sunday morning, April 26, 2026.<\/p>\n

Holguin was driving a 2021 Chevrolet Camaro westbound at a high speed when he crashed into a concrete barrier and a curb, causing the car to roll over, police said.<\/p>\n

Both driver and passenger were transported to a hospital, where Holguin died of his injuries.<\/p>\n

An investigation by the Special Traffic Investigations Unit continues.<\/p>\n

There have been 18 traffic-related deaths in the El Paso city limits this year compared to 21 at the same time last year, according to EPPD figures.<\/p>\n
