ABILENE, Texas \u2013 Abilene Christian defeated UT Arlington 14-4 in seven innings on Sunday afternoon at Crutcher Scott Field at Bullock Brothers Ballpark, taking the series 2-1.<\/p>\n

The Wildcats built a 7-0 lead through three innings before UTA responded with three runs in the fourth. Caylon Dygert<\/a> drove in two with a single, and Austin Phillips<\/a> added an RBI to make it 7-3.<\/p>\n

Abilene Christian put the game away in the bottom of the fourth with six runs, highlighted by Nick Arias’s four-run home run to left center. The Wildcats added another run in the fifth and closed out the game in seven innings.<\/p>\n

Xander McAfee<\/a> and Xavier Melendez<\/a> each collected two hits for the Mavericks. Danny Valadez<\/a> took the loss, allowing five runs in 1.2 innings.<\/p>\n

PITCHING PROFILE

\nDanny Valadez<\/a> allowed five runs on six hits in 1.2 innings. Dylan Skolfield<\/a> gave up two runs in 0.2 innings. Jacob Havern<\/a> surrendered four runs in 0.2 innings. Nick Perry<\/a> allowed two runs in 1.0 inning. Charlie Giese<\/a> gave up one run in 1.0 inning. Zach Evans<\/a> tossed a scoreless seventh.<\/p>\n

\nThe Mavericks travel to Baylor on Tuesday for a 6:30 p.m. first pitch. \n<\/p>\n
