The program announced Sorsby&#8217;s leave on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>Sorsby is under investigation by the NCAA for making thousands of online bets via a gambling app, according to ESPN. Gambling on both collegiate and professional sports is banned by the NCAA.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We love Brendan and support his decision to seek professional help,&#8221; Texas Tech coach Joey McGuire said in a statement. &#8220;Taking this step requires courage, and our primary focus is on him as a person. Our program is behind Brendan as he prioritizes his health.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Sorsby was a headlining addition to Texas Tech&#8217;s quarterback room after signing one of the biggest contracts in <a href=\"https:\/\/cbssports.com\/college-football\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">college football<\/a>. The <a class=\"Annotation-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cbssports.com\/college-football\/teams\/CINCY\/cincinnati-bearcats\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Cincinnati<\/a> transfer was rated a five-star transfer and the No. 2 overall player in the transfer portal.
