{"id":269209,"date":"2026-04-28T03:23:10","date_gmt":"2026-04-28T03:23:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/269209\/"},"modified":"2026-04-28T03:23:10","modified_gmt":"2026-04-28T03:23:10","slug":"teacher-sentenced-to-life-in-prison-for-child-sexual-abuse-in-texas","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/269209\/","title":{"rendered":"Teacher sentenced to life in prison for child sexual abuse in Texas"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"text | article-text\">EMORY, Texas (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.kltv.com\/2026\/04\/27\/former-wills-point-isd-teacher-gets-life-prison-sexual-abuse-children\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.kltv.com\/2026\/04\/27\/former-wills-point-isd-teacher-gets-life-prison-sexual-abuse-children\/\">KLTV<\/a>\/Gray News) &#8211; A former Texas teacher will spend the rest of his life behind bars following a conviction of child sex crimes over the course of seven years.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Jimmy Lee Hanks, 53, was sentenced on April 23 to life in prison for continuous sexual abuse of a child under 14.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Hangs was arrested on Feb. 3, 2025, after <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kltv.com\/2025\/02\/05\/former-wills-point-isd-teacher-accused-child-sex-crimes\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.kltv.com\/2025\/02\/05\/former-wills-point-isd-teacher-accused-child-sex-crimes\/\">reports of child sexual abuse<\/a> lasting from 2016 to 2023, including children as young as 5 years old.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">At the time, he was a teacher for Wills Point Independent School District in Emory. District officials said none of the abuse happened on school property and that he was fired after his arrest.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Hanks pleaded not guilty to the charges.
