EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14\/CBS4) \u2014 An attempted traffic stop in Central El Paso ended with a driver accused of turning his vehicle toward a bicycle officer and fleeing through city streets before being arrested on felony warrants.<\/p>\n

At about 8:30 p.m. April 17, El Paso Police Department officers attempted to stop a vehicle in the 300 block of W. San Antonio Avenue. <\/p>\n

When an officer made contact with the driver, police said the driver turned the vehicle toward the officer, who was on a bicycle, and accelerated, nearly striking the officer.<\/p>\n

Police said the driver fled by driving onto a sidewalk and continuing northbound on Durango. <\/p>\n

The vehicle then ran a stop sign and continued westbound on Franklin Avenue, according to police.<\/p>\n

The vehicle was later found unoccupied near a residence in the Sunset Heights area. <\/p>\n

Warrants were obtained for Jacob Wayne Williams, a 31-year-old El Paso resident.<\/p>\n

Williams was taken into custody by the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force and later booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility. <\/p>\n

He faces charges of aggravated assault against a public servant, with bond set at $50,000, and evading arrest or detention with a vehicle, with bond set at $15,000.<\/p>\n
