Boessenecker will present \u201cRequiem for a Giant: The Megalodon\u201d at 6 p.m. Thursday. The talk will explore the rise and extinction of the giant prehistoric shark and new research about ancient ocean ecosystems.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Dino Day will run from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the museum, located at 3301 Fourth St.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Guests can meet paleontologists and research scientists, view live fossil excavation and preparation demonstrations, and learn how fossils go from discovery to museum display.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The event will feature trace fossil and \u201cinsect in amber\u201d crafts, free planetarium shows, a dinosaur-themed scavenger hunt, touchable fossil replicas and real specimen displays.
