PLANO, Texas \u2014 A woman was killed after she was hit by a car while chasing her unrestrained dog into a roadway, police said. \u00a0<\/p>\n
Officers responded to a crash around 7 p.m. on Monday, April 27, in the 3300 block of Parkwood Boulevard, according to a press release from the Plano Police Department.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Investigators found that a pedestrian was struck by a car driving northbound on Parkwood Parkway, the release states. The pedestrian was chasing her unrestrained dog across the roadway away from a crosswalk when the front right of the vehicle hit the pedestrian, police said.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Plano Fire Rescue responded to the scene and attempted to save the pedestrian’s life, but she was declared dead at the scene, the release states.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The victim was later identified as 72-year-old Beverly Doak Grimes, police said. The loose dog was secured by Plano Animal Services, the release states.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Police do not think speed or intoxication was a factor in the crash.
