The official Fortnite Status account said players who purchased D4vd-related cosmetics will be able to use an immediate self-service refund option beginning Tuesday, April 28. Players can also request refunds now through Epic Games player support, according to the account.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe hear the concerns,\u201d the Fortnite Status account said in a post on X. \u201cWe have a bunch of changes we\u2019re rolling out over time.\u201d<\/p>\n
The move comes after players and Fortnite-focused social media accounts began calling attention to D4vd\u2019s collaborations with the game. Before he became a charting artist, D4vd, whose legal name is David Burke, built part of his early audience in the Fortnite community, where his music circulated alongside gameplay clips.<\/p>\n
Epic later brought Burke\u2019s music directly into the game through purchasable tracks and cosmetics. The D4vd-related items have included the \u201cFeel It\u201d emote, the track \u201cWhat Are You Waiting For\u201d and \u201cLocked and Loaded,\u201d which was promoted as a\u00a0Fortnite anthem.<\/p>\n
Burke, 21, was charged April 20 with first-degree murder in\u00a0Rivas Hernandez\u2019s death. Prosecutors also charged him with lewd and lascivious acts with a person under 14 and mutilating a body.<\/p>\n
Rivas Hernandez\u2019s remains were discovered Sept. 8 after workers at a Hollywood tow yard reported an odor coming from Burke\u2019s impounded Tesla, according to authorities.\u00a0Prosecutors have said the case includes special circumstances that could make Burke eligible for life in prison without parole or the death penalty if convicted.<\/p>\n
Burke has pleaded not guilty.
