D\u00eda de los Ni\u00f1os \u2013 The Art of the Book<\/p>\n
D\u00eda de los Ni\u00f1os \u2013 The Art of the Book<\/a> will take place on Thursday, April 30 from 5:30\u20137 p.m. at the East Library & Recreation Center<\/a>. This family-friendly celebration invites guests to create their own books and book-themed crafts, enjoy storytime with library staff, and take part in a Book Walk where every participant receives a free new book. With games, activities, and plenty of reading fun, the event offers a joyful way to celebrate children and literacy.<\/p>\n Concerts at Levitt Pavilion<\/p>\n Free live music returns on May 1\u20132 from 7:10\u201310 p.m. at Levitt Pavilion Arlington<\/a> for another exciting weekend of concerts under the stars. Friday, May 1 features the Levitt Youth Spotlight at 7:10 p.m., and headlining is Shamarr Allen at 8:30 p.m., bringing his signature New Orleans blend of jazz, funk, hip-hop, blues, and rock.<\/p>\n Saturday, May 2 begins with the Levitt Youth Spotlight at 7:10 p.m., then the Graham St. Clair Band at 7:30 p.m. with their rising Texas country sound, followed by blues-rock artist Liam St. John at 8:30 p.m. Known for its energetic atmosphere and free admission, Levitt Pavilion is the perfect place to bring a lawn chair, gather with friends, and enjoy a weekend of outstanding live music in downtown Arlington.<\/p>\n Chess Club Tournament<\/p>\n Young strategists can put their skills to the test on Saturday, May 2 from 10 a.m.\u20132 p.m. at the Southwest Branch Library<\/a> during this exciting Chess Club Tournament<\/a>. Open to students ages 7 to 17, the five-round Swiss-style competition gives players the chance to compete in up to five timed matches, with plaques awarded to the top five finishers. From smart openings to checkmate moments, it\u2019s a fun day of focus, friendly competition, and classic chess strategy.<\/p>\n Comic Book Day<\/p>\n Comic fans of all ages can join the fun on Saturday, May 2 from 11 a.m.\u20137 p.m. at Coliseum Comics & Games<\/a> for the annual Free Comic Book Day<\/a> celebration. This family-friendly event features free comic giveaways, board games, a costume contest, and plenty of activities designed to spark imagination and encourage reading. Whether you’re a longtime collector or brand new to comics, it\u2019s a super way to spend the day.<\/p>\n Denim Blooms for Mom<\/p>\n Looking for a heartfelt Mother\u2019s Day gift with a creative touch? Join Denim Blooms for Mom<\/a> on Saturday, May 2 from 2\u20134 p.m. at the George W. Hawkes Downtown Library<\/a>, where participants will transform old denim into a beautiful handmade bouquet.
