{"id":271960,"date":"2026-04-29T22:09:07","date_gmt":"2026-04-29T22:09:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/271960\/"},"modified":"2026-04-29T22:09:07","modified_gmt":"2026-04-29T22:09:07","slug":"sloan-corners-donates-over-9-acres-of-parkland-to-allen","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/271960\/","title":{"rendered":"Sloan Corners donates over 9 acres of parkland to Allen"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\tA portion of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.billingsleyco.com\/master-planned-communities\/sloane-corners\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Bravo Park<\/a> at Sloan Corners is now open.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cityofallen.org\/government\/city_council\/index.php\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Allen City Council<\/a> unanimously approved accepting a donation of about 9.65 acres of parkland located within the Sloan Corners development at an <a href=\"https:\/\/actv.org\/internetchannel\/show\/4312?seekto=1942&amp;site=1\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">April 28 meeting.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The overview<\/p>\n<p>Sloan Corners is a <a href=\"https:\/\/communityimpact.com\/dallas-fort-worth\/allen\/development\/2026\/04\/02\/front-door-to-our-city-billingsley-companys-mixed-use-sloan-corners-development-makes-progress-in-allen\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">mixed-use development<\/a> located at the southwest corner of US 75 and SH 121. Developed by Dallas-based Billingsley Co., the project will feature retail, restaurants and office space when fully built out.<\/p>\n<p>The development will also include Bravo Park, a 30-acre park including walking trails, a pond, pickleball courts and dog parks, Billingsley Co. founder and partner Lucy Billingsley said.<\/p>\n<p>The 9.65 acres donated to the city represents the first of several phases, Deputy City Manager Eric Strong said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs they continue to build more and more on that development, they will continue to add to the park,\u201d Strong said.<\/p>\n<p>The park will serve all multifamily residents at Sloan Corners and visitors to the community, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cityofallen.org\/government\/city_meeting_agendas_minutes.php\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">city documents state.<\/a> The city\u2019s acceptance of the donation fulfills the project\u2019s parkland dedication obligation.<\/p>\n<p>The impact<\/p>\n<p>In addition to accepting the donation, City Council approved a park maintenance agreement with Sloan Corners, stating that the developer is responsible for all costs related to maintaining the park to the city of Allen\u2019s standards, per city documents.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNot only do we get a free, very expensive park, we get a free, very expensive park that the private sector is maintaining for us,\u201d Strong said. \u201cI think that\u2019s a big win for us.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Diving deeper<\/p>\n<p>One of the Allen Parks and Recreation Department\u2019s goals is for every resident to live within a 10-minute walk to a park. The addition of Bravo Park helps the city move closer toward that goal, Strong said.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to filling a gap in access for residents, having a higher percentage of residents living within a 10-minute walk to a park helps the city qualify for more grants to fund future park projects, Strong said.\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"A portion of Bravo Park at Sloan Corners is now open.
