As El Paso gears up for a weekend of BTS concerts, the city is honoring the South Korean artists and their loyal “ARMY” of fans\u00a0with a slate of resolutions.<\/p>\n
May 2 and 3 were declared “El Paso BTS Weekend” during a County Commissioners meeting on Monday, April 27.\u00a0The group is headed to the University of Texas at El Paso’s Sun Bowl Stadium for two nights as part of their ARIRANG\u00a0<\/a>world tour<\/a>, the highly anticipated culmination of a new album after all seven members completed their mandatory military service.\u00a0According to KFOX 14<\/a>, Visit El Paso Executive Director Brooke Underwood projected an economic impact of $75 million in the region due to the band’s tour stop.\u00a0<\/p>\n BTS \u2014 made up of rappers RM, Suga and j-hope alongside singers Jung Kook, Jimin, Jin and V \u2014 were also given the “Estimado Amigo” award “in recognition of their contribution to increased tourism, community pride, and the elevation of El Paso County’s profile as a premier destination for major international events,” a meeting agenda<\/a> states.<\/p>\n The meeting also approved a resolution recognizing the El Paso, TX Official BTS ARMY GROUP for “bringing people together and representing the spirit of the El Paso community.” According to KFOX 14, the resolutions were followed by a performance by Mariachi Corazones de San Jose, an all-ages student mariachi group, as well as a cheer by University of Texas at El Paso cheerleaders and mascot\u00a0Paydirt Pete.<\/p>\n
