{"id":273594,"date":"2026-04-30T22:25:29","date_gmt":"2026-04-30T22:25:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/273594\/"},"modified":"2026-04-30T22:25:29","modified_gmt":"2026-04-30T22:25:29","slug":"world-cup-tailgating-rules-remain-unclear-in-north-texas","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/273594\/","title":{"rendered":"World Cup tailgating rules remain unclear in North Texas"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>ARLINGTON, Texas \u2014 With fewer than 50 days until the FIFA World Cup begins in Texas, questions are emerging about how fan traditions will be handled at venues across the United States.<\/p>\n<p>Matches are set to take place in Arlington and Houston, drawing thousands of international visitors and prompting local officials to prepare for large-scale crowds and logistics.<\/p>\n<p>Tailgating is a longstanding tradition in American sports culture, but World Cup organizers are balancing those customs with global event standards and security needs.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis summer isn\u2019t a regular sporting tournament,\u201d Arlington Mayor Jim Ross said. \u201cA fan march is where you may have 10, 15, 40,000 people marching down the street and celebrating their team.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Arlington is preparing to host nine World Cup matches, which is the most of any city in North America, bringing added pressure to manage transportation, safety and the overall fan experience.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo, there\u2019s issues regarding transportation and traffic. There\u2019s issues regarding security,\u201d Ross said.<\/p>\n<p>Concerns about tailgating intensified in mid-April after reports showed that some U.S. venues, including sites in New Jersey and Massachusetts, would not allow the practice. The reports raised fears that a blanket policy could apply nationwide.
