A total of four people are said to have been involved. Two are injured, one is in critical condition, and another is in police custody.<\/p>\n
GARLAND, Texas \u2014 Two people were shot, and one is currently in critical condition after an afternoon shooting in a park located in the area of Garland High School, authorities tell WFAA.<\/p>\n
The Garland Police Department sent out an alert via its social media channels just before 4:30 p.m., warning people to avoid Central Park near the area of Avenue F and Garland Avenue (SH 78).\u00a0<\/p>\n
In the alert, GPD reported a significant police presence in the park at that time, and our chopper caught overhead footage of several GPD units near a closed-off area of Central Park, along with seemingly uniformed and plain-clothed officers.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Officials would later tell WFAA that a total of four people were involved in what they believed to be a meet-up in the park that happened just before 3 p.m. They said the meet was “tied to the sale of illicit material” and that the meet “went awry” while also calling the shooting an isolated incident.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Beyond the two injured in the shooting, a third person was said to have driven away from the scene before being located by police at another location.\u00a0<\/p>\n
All four involved are said to be male teenagers, police say.
