\t\t\t\t\t\t\tPlano City Council approved maintenance repairs and repainting for three slide stairway towers at Oak Point<\/a> and Carpenter Park<\/a> recreation centers at a meeting April 27.<\/p>\n

The gist<\/p>\n

One indoor waterslide stairway tower at Oak Point Recreation Center and two slide stairway towers at Carpenter Park Recreation Center have visible paint deterioration, surface corrosion and structural degradation, according to city documents<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The roughly nine-year-old structures were recommended for preventative maintenance during a routine inspection last year.<\/p>\n

Carpenter Park Recreation Center\u2019s waterslides will be closed from May 6-12 and its pool will be closed from May 6-10. Oak Point Recreation Center\u2019s waterslide will be closed from May 1-22 and its pool will be closed from May 13-17, according to the city\u2019s parks and recreation department.<\/p>\n

The pools will be closed due to safety concerns while the slide towers are prepared for painting, according to the department.<\/p>\n

The background<\/p>\n

City Council approved $173,560 to go toward maintenance repairs and repainting for the three structures. Funds will come from the 2025-26 Captial Maintenance Fund, per city documents.<\/p>\n

Council also approved the repairs to be done by Mountjoy Aquatics<\/a>, a Richardson-based business.<\/p>\n
