Construction is underway on North Arlington\u2019s first police substation, which is also a multi-purpose facility that will house a new Police Department crime lab and evidence storage facility and Code Compliance offices.<\/p>\n

Arlington voters approved funding for the $29.3 million facility, set to open at 1715 E. Lamar Boulevard in spring 2027, in the 2018 and 2023 bond elections. The City purchased the 4.3-acre property in 2021 and began renovating the 40,000-square-foot empty commercial building on the site in November 2025.<\/p>\n

In addition to providing the City\u2019s police and Code Compliance officers with additional office and operational space, the new facility will include a dedicated community room for public and neighborhood meetings. Residents can also visit the walk-up service desk in the lobby to request to speak with a police officer.<\/p>\n

More than 120 city employees will work from the new facility, including approximately 100 police personnel serve in the North Patrol District. This district provides patrol responses for Downtown, the Entertainment District, and numerous North Arlington neighborhoods, including Viridian. The facility will also house 11 employees in the Property and Evidence Section as well as 13 employees in the Crime Scene Unit.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Bond Tracker: The Bond Tracker, available at www.arlingtontx.gov\/bondtracker<\/a>, keeps residents informed about the projects that were approved by Arlington voters in the City\u2019s bond elections. Projects selected for bond packages are presented to voters on a ballot after a series of meetings, tours, public forums and extensive study by a Council-appointed Citizens Bond Committee, generally held every four to five years.<\/p>\n
