The incident happened in Wimberley, Texas, a small city about 15 miles west of San Marcos and roughly 40 miles southwest of Austin.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s everything we know so far about the crash:<\/p>\n<p>The Hays County Sheriff&#8217;s Office said\u00a0the agency received a call about a loud boom and fire at 11:03\u00a0p.m. Thursday, following reports of an aircraft down in the Wimberley area.<\/p>\n<p>Officers were dispatched to the 200 block of Round Rock Road in\u00a0Wimberley\u00a0at 11:05 p.m. Law enforcement, fire and emergency medical services (EMS) arrived on scene at 11:17\u00a0p.m.<\/p>\n<p>Fire and EMS personnel remained on scene through the early morning hours on Friday.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Preliminary information on the crash indicated that the plane was traveling at a high rate of speed at the time of impact.\u00a0Hays County Judge Ruben Becerra said <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/share\/p\/18UU2dwwD7\/\" data-link=\"native\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">in a news release<\/a> that the aircraft,\u00a0identified as a Cessna 421C, was confirmed to have crashed with five people on board. Authorities confirmed that all five people died as a result of the crash.<\/p>\n<p>Based on the authorities&#8217; current findings, there is no indication of a mid-air collision. A second aircraft traveling in the vicinity landed safely in New Braunfels.<\/p>\n<p>The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) have been notified and will be leading the investigation into the cause of the crash.<\/p>\n<p>The names\u00a0of the five people who died have not yet been released until authorities can notify their families.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>This remains an active investigation.
