DALLAS, Texas\u00a0\u2013 The UT Arlington track & field team opened competition at the SMU Invite with three personal bests and four podium finishes on Friday. — #BuckEm \u2013<\/p>\n \u00a0

\nSenior Jaalah Puryear<\/a> earned second place in the women’s hammer throw with a mark of 55.28m. Eli England<\/a>, Arieanna Mcpeak<\/a> and Logan Villalva<\/a> each earned bronze finishes in the men’s 200m, women’s long jump and men’s hammer throw, respectively. England clocked a time of 21.26, while Mcpeak recorded a PR of 6.21m, tying for fifth all-time in program history in the women’s outdoor long jump. Villalva threw 53.56m in the men’s hammer throw.

\nUTA throwers continue to improve in the outdoor campaign, as Gabe Songer<\/a> and Esther Adedire<\/a> posted personal bests. Songer recorded a throw of 51.05m, while Adedire finished with a mark of 50.46m in the hammer throw.

\nThe Mavericks will continue competition at the SMU Invite on Saturday, May 2 with the remainder of multis and field events, including pole vault, triple jump and shot put. Track events will also continue.
