According to arrest papers for the suspect in the case,<\/a> Campbell was an Uber driver who picked the suspect up before she allegedly killed him, left him in a field and stole his vehicle.<\/p>\n11 News spoke with the family of Campbell on Tuesday, who said they did not want to comment at the time.<\/p>\n
ORIGINAL COVERAGE (10\/27\/25): The El Paso County Sheriff\u2019s Office (EPSO) said a suspect has been arrested in connection with a homicide in an area between Black Forest and Peyton.<\/p>\n
According to EPSO, their investigation was in the area of Eastonville and Hodgen Roads, near the Woodlake Trailhead.<\/p>\n
EPSO said deputies received a report of a person missing from an address near Cimarron Hills at around 3:45 Monday morning. Investigation into that case led them to locate a vehicle on Spectrum Loop, near the Ford Amphitheater in Colorado Springs.<\/p>\n
According to EPSO, deputies then received a tip that led them to the area of Eastonville and Hodgen, where they found a man dead.<\/p>\n
Monday evening, the sheriff\u2019s office said 27-year-old Khayla Dawson was arrested in connection with the homicide and charged with first-degree murder, aggravated robbery and motor vehicle theft.<\/p>\n
The sheriff\u2019s office is continuing to investigate this incident.<\/p>\n
