But there’s one aspect of visiting Texas’ favorite gas station that may put a damper on van or RV life travels: You can’t sleep in the parking lot.

While Buc-ee’s may technically be a gas station, it’s not exactly a truck stop in the way for others. In fact, it’s, controversially, absolutely not a truck stop as commercial trucks aren’t allowed to drive on their pavement or pump gas.

However, the company does sell gas and snacks and kitschy collectibles donning the bucktoothed mascot like other fueling stations. While there are other stops known for welcoming weary late-night travelers, Buc-ee’s explicitly doesn’t allow overnight guests in their parking lots.

“In our efforts to maintain a safe and secure environment for all of our customers, we cannot accommodate vehicles for an extended amount of time in our lets,” the company website states.

Leisure Travel Vans, an RV builder and dealer that’s been in the business for decades, raves about Texas’ favorite buck-toothed beaver. The company details the reasons Buc-ee’s has become a Lone Star State staple, essentially describing an RV camper’s dream.

“Buc-ee’s gas stations (yes, they call themselves a gas station), are not just a place to get fuel and snacks for your travels, but an experience so overwhelmingly magnificent, you won’t soon forget it,” the company says, addressing fan favorites, like the fudge.

But it simply isn’t your rest stop on your RV travels. While some folks claim they’ve gotten away with a quick doze or permission from staff to park for up to 4 hours, it’s best to find another place.

While there’s no statewide law banning sleeping in your car in Texas, drivers are encouraged to find a rest stop. There are many stationed along highways and interstates where drivers can rest for up to 24 hours.

Buc-ee’s may not welcome rests in their parking lot, but several other prominent Texas businesses are notorious spots to rest your eyes. Walmart and Cracker Barrel are the two mentioned the most by long distance travelers, though it’s not universal. Folks say some Crackel Barrel locations have signs prohibiting camping or overnight parking, so it may be wise to check in with a staffer or manager.

A stop a Buc-ee’s is considered an RV traveler’s dream, thanks to the beloved snacks, beverages, clean bathrooms and…

[8
4620,821,847,820,82,84,83
post-276607","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-san-antonio","tag-alertable-bucees-msa","tag-mysabusiness","tag-mysanews","tag-mysastaff","tag-san-antonio","tag-san-antonio-headlines","tag-san-antonio-news
["GET
