The Arlington Police Department has released its 2025 Annual Report which provides a comprehensive look at the department’s achievements, new initiatives, and crime statistics during the 2025 calendar year.\u00a0It also highlights different units within the department to give community members a better understanding of how their police department works.<\/p>\n

Highlights of the report include:<\/p>\n


\nIn 2025, overall crime was down 12 percent from the previous year, marking the fourth straight year that rate has dropped. That includes a 14 percent decrease in Crimes Against Persons (assault, human trafficking, homicide, and sex offenses) and an 18 percent decrease in Crimes Against Property (burglary, theft, vandalism).\u00a0
\nThe department partnered with UT-Arlington to launch an innovative program that could help solve cold cases. Select students earning their degrees in criminal justice and forensics spend the semester reviewing the case files for three real unsolved homicides provided by the department. The students then report back to the detectives on possible leads or paths forward. Department leaders have applauded the program as win-win. The partnership provides APD with additional eyes and extended, uninterrupted time reviewing cold cases. The students, in turn, gain valuable real-world experience.\u00a0
\nIn line with its seven year strategic plan, the department continues to invest in technology that makes officers more effective. In 2025, APD became one of the first law enforcement agencies to obtain a special waiver from the FAA that allows officers to fly drones beyond visual line of site. As a result, the department was able to expand its Drone as a First Responder program and give certified pilots inside APD’s Real Time Crime Center the ability to remotely pilot drones from docks stationed in strategic locations across the city to incidents. The pilots are then able to provide real-time intelligence to officers on the ground, making them better informed during their response.\u00a0 <\/p>\n

“Over the past year, we have made meaningful progress in enhancing the safety and well-being of our community,” said Chief of Police Al Jones. “As we look ahead, I am confident in the future we are building together. We will continue to prioritize collaboration, innovation, and meaningful engagement as we work to create lasting, positive change.”<\/p>\n
