At the time, the $27 million purchase was pitched as a high-rise residential project expected to reshape a key stretch of Westheimer.<\/p>\n<p>Last March, developers shared renderings of the proposed 617,800-square-foot development at Westheimer and Montrose Boulevard..\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Plans for the tower have evolved over time, but the scale has remained consistent\u2014a high-density residential project at one of Houston&#8217;s busiest intersections.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The developers are behind several notable Houston projects, including the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.chron.com\/business\/real-estate\/article\/New-crane-at-Capitol-Tower-signals-Skanska-s-11014566.php\" data-link=\"native\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">Bank of America Tower downtown <\/a>and the Terminal B renovation at George Bush Intercontinental Airport.<\/p>\n<p>In the years since, the site has largely sat vacant, occasionally serving as a space for farmers&#8217; market vendors and food trucks. That stretch of Westheimer has long been a focal point for development, with rising land values and shifting retail trends transforming the corridor over the past decade.<\/p>\n<p>The project marks one of the more high-profile developments planned for Montrose, a neighborhood that has seen steady redevelopment in recent years as older properties make way for larger mixed-use and residential projects.<\/p>\n<p>Construction is expected to begin Oct. 1, 2026, with an estimated cost of $110 million. The project is scheduled for completion in February 2029.
