{"id":280241,"date":"2026-05-05T20:47:54","date_gmt":"2026-05-05T20:47:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/280241\/"},"modified":"2026-05-05T20:47:54","modified_gmt":"2026-05-05T20:47:54","slug":"private-health-care-college-coming-soon-to-richardson","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/280241\/","title":{"rendered":"Private health care college coming soon to Richardson"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\tA private health care college is set to open in Richardson later this year after City Council unanimously approved a special permit <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cor.net\/home\/showpublisheddocument\/45975\/639124680133570000\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">April 27<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/casalomacollege.edu\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Casa Loma College<\/a>, a nonprofit health care college based out of Los Angeles, offers accelerated hybrid programs for students to earn a health care degree, ranging from associate to master\u2019s, in under two years, city planner Christine Ross said.<\/p>\n<p>The overview<\/p>\n<p>Casa Loma College requested a special permit from the city to open its first Texas campus in a multitenant office building at 1202 Richardson Drive.<\/p>\n<p>The college\u2019s programs include nursing, medical imaging, physical therapy, business administration and health care management, and combine classroom instruction with hands-on lab and simulation training. Tuition will be approximately $40,000 for a two-year degree, said Skye Thibodeaux, director of land planning with Mission Ridge Consultants, which represents Casa Loma.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe feel like this is a great adaptive reuse of vacant space in an office building,\u201d Thibodeaux said.<\/p>\n<p>The total enrollment is expected to reach 450 students, but student attendance will be staggered throughout the week. According to a traffic study, the college is not expected to have a significant impact on traffic, Thibodeaux said.<\/p>\n<p>The City Plan Commission unanimously <a href=\"https:\/\/communityimpact.com\/dallas-fort-worth\/richardson\/education\/2026\/04\/09\/richardson-commission-oks-private-healthcare-college\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">recommended<\/a> approval of the special permit April 7.<\/p>\n<p>Looking ahead<\/p>\n<p>Thibodeaux said the college will support workforce development in Richardson for health and technical fields and help to address nursing shortages.<\/p>\n<p>Casa Loma plans to open with a phased occupancy plan, Thibodeaux said, establishing initial operations with a smaller student body in currently vacant tenant space in June.
