ARLINGTON, Texas \u2013Three Mavericks earned recognition as the Western Athletic Conference announced its postseason awards on Tuesday.<\/p>\n
Newcomer Peyton Holland<\/a> was named WAC Co-Defensive Player of the Year and earned All-WAC Second and Defensive Team, while Mia McNulty<\/a> was selected to the All-WAC First Team and Dee McClarity<\/a> earned All-WAC Second Team honors.<\/p>\n Holland’s dominance on the defensive end earned her a share of the WAC Defensive Player of the Year honors following her first Division I season, anchoring UTA with consistency and reliability in the field. She recorded 185 total chances with 72 putouts and 107 assists while committing just six errors, posting an impressive .968 fielding percentage. Offensively, Holland boasts a .305 batting average with 44 runs, 36 hits, eight doubles and 43 RBI. The junior has led the WAC in home runs over the past two weeks and recently tied UTA’s single-season individual home run record with 14.<\/p>\n McNulty earned All-WAC First Team honors after delivering one of the conference’s top offensive seasons. The junior hit .336 while totaling 45 hits, 31 runs scored and 40 RBI, highlighted by 13 home runs and a .687 slugging percentage. McNulty claimed the top spot in the WAC in home runs for multiple weeks throughout the season and enters the conference tournament ranked second in the league.<\/p>\n McClarity earned All-WAC Second Team honors after putting together at standout season at the plate. She hit .349, tallying 45 hits with 14 doubles, driving in 30 runs and eight home runs.
