{"id":280558,"date":"2026-05-06T00:47:09","date_gmt":"2026-05-06T00:47:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/280558\/"},"modified":"2026-05-06T00:47:09","modified_gmt":"2026-05-06T00:47:09","slug":"county-receives-5m-federal-grant-for-east-wilco-highway-project","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/280558\/","title":{"rendered":"County receives $5M federal grant for East WilCo Highway project"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\tWilliamson County received a $5 million grant in late April from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development for its East WilCo Highway Southeast Loop Connection project, according to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wilcotx.gov\/m\/newsflash\/home\/detail\/796\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">county news release<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Learn more<\/p>\n<p>The funds will aid the construction of 1.65 miles of East WilCo Highway, and be used for safety improvements at FM 1660 and FM 3349 as well as a new traffic signal.<\/p>\n<p>The remainder of the $7 million project will be funded by the 2023 voter-approved Williamson County Road Bond.<\/p>\n<p>About the project<\/p>\n<p>The East Wilco Highway Southeast Loop Connection project is part of the greater <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wilcotx.gov\/853\/East-Wilco-Highway-Southeast-Loop\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">East Wilco Highway Segment 2<\/a> project, which will construct a new road with a lane in each direction, as well as a center turn lane, between CR 137 and CR 404.<\/p>\n<p>Engineering firm <a href=\"https:\/\/jmt.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Johnson, Mirmiran &amp; Thompson<\/a> created the project design, and the county has not yet selected a construction contractor.
