CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas \u2014 After more than four years of providing crucial weather coverage to the Coastal Bend, Meteorologist Kristin Walla is saying farewell. She will soon be joining the weather team at KVUE, our sister station in Austin.<\/p>\n
Kristin joined the 3NEWS team in December of 2021 as our weekend evening meteorologist. She quickly became a key member of our team, providing useful and accurate forecasts while also making major contributions to projects such as our yearly Hurricane Special and our Water Woes series, which was nominated for an award by the Texas Association of Broadcasters.<\/p>\n
Kristin was part of team coverage during Tropical Storm Harold. She and the 3NEWS team were on air for 7.5 hours straight covering the storm’s impacts \u2013 including multiple tornado warnings \u2013 to keep the Coastal Bend safe.<\/p>\n
\u201cKristin played a big role in the KIII weather team. She was a reliable source for your weekend weather, and this is a well-deserved promotion. Austin is lucky to have her!\u201d Chief Meteorologist Carly Smith said. \u201cWe will miss her greatly here at 3NEWS.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s always bittersweet saying goodbye to a member of our team, especially one as talented as Kristin,\u201d News Director Jonathan Munson said. \u201cShe joined us just out of college and has done an amazing job ever since. We\u2019ll all miss Kristin, but we\u2019re excited to see what\u2019s next for her.\u201d<\/p>\n
Kristin\u2019s last day on air will be Sunday, May 10.
