(May 6, 2026) \u2013 Battling a condensed schedule, shifting conditions and an unseasonal cold front, Lubbock Christian University closed out its NCAA Division II West Regional appearance with a 54-hole total of 982 (327-325-330) at Pueblo Country Club, finishing 17th in a deep 18-team field.

\nOriginally slated as a three-day, 54-hole championship, the tournament was altered due to an approaching snow system, forcing teams to attempt 36 holes Monday before completing the final round Tuesday under a cold weather advisory with temperatures hovering below 45 degrees. The demanding setup and conditions proved challenging across the board, as only one player in the entire field managed to post a sub-par round during the final 18 holes.

\nDespite the adversity, the Lady Chaparrals showed resilience throughout the event, highlighted by steady leadership from senior Anaya Perales<\/a>, who capped her collegiate postseason career with a team-best tie for 53rd place at 240 (+27). Perales opened with a 78 before adding rounds of 81-81, navigating difficult scoring stretches while continuing her role as LCU’s top postseason performer.

\nSenior Ali Escamilla, competing in her program-record third NCAA postseason appearance, finished 72nd overall at 246 (+33). After posting rounds of 82 and 83 on Monday, Escamilla delivered one of LCU’s stronger closing efforts with an 81 in the final round, providing a stabilizing presence amid the deteriorating weather.

\nFreshman Nadalie Cannell<\/a>, who entered the week with prior success at Pueblo Country Club, placed tied for 79th at 251 (+38). Cannell opened with an 84 but responded with a second-round 79, one of LCU’s better rounds of the tournament, before closing with an 88 in Tuesday’s difficult conditions.

\nJunior Hailey Hays<\/a> (255, +42) and freshman Abby Archunde (257, +44) rounded out the lineup, finishing 87th and 89th, respectively. Hays posted rounds of 87-82-86, while Archunde rebounded from a second-round 92 to card an 82 in the final round, matching one of her top scores of the week and providing a late bright spot for the Lady Chaps.

\nAs a team, LCU showed its most consistency during Monday’s opening 36 holes, improving by two strokes from Round 1 to Round 2. However, like much of the field, the Lady Chaps faced significant challenges in the final round, where cold temperatures, wind and firm conditions led to higher scoring across the leaderboard.

\nThe regional field featured several of the nation’s top programs, with Cal State San Marcos claiming the team title at 907 (+55), followed by Dallas Baptist (914) and host Colorado State Pueblo (916). Five teams ultimately advanced to the NCAA Division II National Championships.

\nFor Lubbock Christian, the appearance marked the program’s third consecutive NCAA Regional berth and the second straight team-berth in program history, continuing a period of sustained growth under head coach Jeffrey Maciejewski. With a lineup that blended veteran leadership and emerging underclassmen, the Lady Chaps once again gained valuable postseason experience against one of the strongest fields in Division II.
