A suspected home intruder is dead after being shot by a homeowner in northwest Harris County, according to deputies with Mark Herman\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n
Deputies responded to the 16900 block of Spring Creek Oaks Court after reports of a break-in in progress. Investigators say a suspect entered the home through a back door and was confronted by the homeowner. During that confrontation, the homeowner reported firing shots.<\/p>\n
The suspect fled the scene and was initially described as a man wearing a blue hoodie and a ski mask.<\/p>\n
A short time later, deputies located the suspect in a bayou area behind the residence, suffering from a gunshot wound. <\/p>\n
EMS was called to the scene, but authorities later confirmed the suspect was pronounced dead.<\/p>\n
The homeowner has been detained as part of the ongoing investigation, which is standard procedure in cases involving the use of deadly force.<\/p>\n
Constable deputies and detectives remain on scene working to determine the full sequence of events, including what led up to the attempted break-in.<\/p>\n
This is an active investigation. Authorities have not released the identities of those involved.<\/p>\n
