\t\t\t\t\t\t\tColleyville will see a new sidewalk on Westcoat Drive after council<\/a> approved a $204,319 contract with West Texas Rebar Placers Inc. at the May 5 council meeting<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The overview <\/p>\n

A 5-foot sidewalk will be installed on the east side of Westcoat Drive from White Drive to approximately 100 feet south of L.D Lockett Road, according to city documents<\/a>. The work will also include drainage structures, grading and restoration of landscaping.<\/p>\n

In addition to the $204,319 base contract, council approved a contingency amount not to exceed $20,000 and a material testing amount not to exceed $17,000.<\/p>\n

The project is funded through the Capital Improvement Projects<\/a> fund.<\/p>\n

Colleyville citizen Kathy Hadley spoke against the project during public comment.<\/p>\n

\u201cY’all are turning my city into a sidewalk haven, and it’s making me sick,\u201d she said. \u201cGoodbye to the trees. What are y’all going to do with the trees that are in the way of the sidewalks that y’all are putting in? I oppose the sidewalks.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mayor<\/a> Bobby Lindamood said the construction crew goes around the trees when constructing the sidewalks.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe protect those trees to make sure that the integrity is there and we love [the trees],\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Lindamood said a survey was sent out, and citizens said they wanted sidewalks to connect around the city.<\/p>\n

What\u2019s next? <\/p>\n

Construction of the sidewalk is anticipated to start in early June and finish by September, Assistant City Manager Adrienne Lothery said.<\/p>\n
