The\u00a0Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service<\/a>\u00a0will host a septic system clinic for residents in the Joe Pool Lake and Village\u00a0Creek-Lake\u00a0Arlington Watersheds in Alvarado on May 12.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

The clinic is free and will take place from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the Johnson County Precinct 3 Maintenance Facility, 10420 E. Farm-to-Market Road 917. It is open to residents in Dallas, Ellis,\u00a0Johnson\u00a0and Tarrant counties and aims to protect local water quality by promoting proper septic system maintenance and providing information on grant eligibility.\u00a0<\/p>\n

To attend, participants must\u00a0register at https:\/\/tx.ag\/SepticSystemClinic<\/a>\u00a0<\/p>\n

Homeowners attending the clinic will get information about financial\u00a0assistance\u00a0available for septic system repairs and replacement.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

About the clinic\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Joe Pool Lake and Village\u00a0Creek-Lake\u00a0Arlington Watershed Partnerships are grant programs that offer financial\u00a0assistance\u00a0to eligible homeowners with failing septic systems. The effort supports the long-term health of nearby waterways by reducing potential sources of pollution.\u00a0<\/p>\n

During the clinic, participants will learn how home septic systems, also known as on-site sewage facilities, function and why regular maintenance is critical. Failing systems can discharge harmful bacteria and other pollutants into surrounding streams and lakes, posing risks to both public health and aquatic ecosystems.<\/p>\n

About the partnership<\/p>\n

The watershed partnerships are a collaboration among the Trinity River Authority of Texas; the cities of Cedar Hill, Grand Prairie, Mansfield,\u00a0Midlothian\u00a0and Arlington;\u00a0Texas A&M AgriLife Research<\/a>; AgriLife Extension; the\u00a0Texas Commission on Environmental Quality<\/a>; and local stakeholders. The initiative focuses on addressing water quality concerns in the Joe Pool Lake and Village\u00a0Creek-Lake\u00a0Arlington watersheds.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Funding and support for the Joe Pool Lake and Village Creek-Lake Arlington Watershed Protection Plans are provided through Clean Water Act nonpoint source grants from the\u00a0U.S. Environmental Protection Agency<\/a>, administered by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.\u00a0<\/p>\n
