study by AMFM Healthcare<\/a>\u00a0surveyed 3,002\u00a0drivers across the U.S. and asked them\u00a0which\u00a0commutes contributed the most to burnout. The study revealed that making the trek\u00a0to and from the cities\u00a0plays\u00a0a big role\u00a0in the mental health of employees.\u00a0<\/p>\nTexas metros that made the list include the commute from Round Rock to Austin at No. 16,\u00a0Frisco to Dallas at No. 13 and Katy to Houston at No. 9.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
AMFM\u00a0Clinical Director David Asch tells us the commute can add unpaid hours to the workday,\u00a0causing more stress that can carry over into work\u00a0and\u00a0personal lives.\u00a0Results also showed that as cities expand and more workers live farther from their jobs,\u00a0the experience\u00a0is becoming increasingly common.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s\u00a0a growing reality for people as they\u2019re trying to move away from that busy urban stress…so people are moving to suburbs in cheaper areas,\u201d Asch said. \u201cWe\u2019re noticing a big trade-off where they\u2019re actually getting a lot less time in these\u00a0cheaper, nicer lives that they\u2019re trying to build for themselves.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
Experts recommend commuters change their mindset about their commute by dedicating that time to something productive safely. For example, listening to a podcast that you wanted to learn about or dedicating the time to listening to a specific audiobook so that drivers feel like time\u00a0wasn\u2019t\u00a0wasted.\u00a0<\/p>\n
