The winners of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Essay Contest and\u00a0Black History Month Art Contest\u00a0were recognized at\u00a0Monday\u2019s City Council\u00a0work session. Seven artists\/authors were awarded\u00a0$200\u00a0and their essays and art pieces will be published in the June edition of\u00a0Richardson Today.\u00a0<\/p>\n

4th\u00a0\u2013 6th\u00a0Grade \u00a0Temple Adams\u00a0<\/p>\n

7th\u00a0\u2013 9th\u00a0Grade Kerod\u00a0Alemu\u00a0<\/p>\n

10th\u00a0\u2013 12th\u00a0Grade Kishore Ravishankar\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

The winners\u00a0in the Black History Month Art Contest\u00a0are:\u00a0<\/p>\n

1st\u00a0\u2013 3rd\u00a0Grade Praneel Thakkar\u00a0<\/p>\n

4th\u00a0\u2013 6th\u00a0Grade Cohen Hughes\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

7th\u00a0\u2013 9th\u00a0Grade Violet Scamardo\u00a0<\/p>\n

10th\u00a0\u2013 12th\u00a0Grade Josie Fick\u00a0<\/p>\n

This was the sixth year\u00a0for the contests, which\u00a0are\u00a0open to students who live in the City of Richardson or attend a school in Richardson. The Richardson City Council sponsored the contests in cooperation with the Community Inclusion and Engagement Commission, Cultural Arts Commission, Richardson ISD, Plano ISD and UT Dallas to promote, embrace and celebrate community diversity and inclusion.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
