A parking lot takeover with more than 100 vehicles in north Houston ended in a police chase and the driver’s arrest late Thursday night, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.<\/p>\n
The sheriff’s office was called to a parking lot takeover at Interstate 45 and Greens Road around 10:45 p.m., Sgt. John Carroll with the sheriff’s office Traffic Crimes Unit told OnScene TV. Carroll did not provide a specific address, but that intersection is near the site of the former Greenspoint Mall.<\/p>\n

Carroll said roughly 100 to 150 vehicles were involved in the parking lot takeover “doing donuts and crazy stuff.”<\/p>\n
He said deputies attempted to stop a red Dodge Charger at the scene and the vehicle’s driver refused to stop. Deputies pursued the vehicle in a chase that stretched several miles and reached speeds of more than 100 mph, he said.<\/p>\n
The vehicle ran out of gas in a Popeye’s restaurant in the vicinity. The driver fled the vehicle on foot and was arrested by deputies.<\/p>\n
No injuries were reported, Carroll said. The vehicle was seized at the scene and went into the possession of the Harris County District Attorney’s Office to determine what happens to it.<\/p>\n
