<\/p>\n NEW ORLEANS \u2013 The New Orleans Privateers completed their end of what was needed after defeating the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Islanders 7-4 on Saturday at Maestri Field to close out the series sweep. \u00a0<\/p>\n

\nThe Privateers now need one more win from Lamar who will pick up a suspended game against HCU on Sunday at 1 p.m.
\n\u00a0
\nThe Privateers grabbed the lead first when Owen Smith<\/a> hit a solo homer off starter, Preston Watkins on a 1-1 pitch to give New Orleans a 1-0 advantage. The Islanders came back with three runs of their own over the next two frames to surge in front 3-1.
\n\u00a0
\nHowever, a relentless Privateer offense was not to be denied as they came back through Kruise Newman’s<\/a> two-run homer in the fourth inning which leveled the score at 3-3. The Privateers went on to score over the next three innings.
\n\u00a0
\nNew Orleans went ahead in the fifth inning when a bloop double and an infield single was followed by an infield single from Newman that put the Privateers up 4-3.
\n\u00a0
\nThe Privateers added two runs in the sixth off a Dathan Cummings<\/a> RBI double and a Jayden Adcox<\/a> single that went through the right side of the infield on a 2-2 pitch. Eli Tidwell<\/a> capped off the scoring in the seventh with an RBI single that scored Adrian Dominguez<\/a>.

\nBryson Goff<\/a> got the win to move to 6-3 on the season. He turned in his third consecutive quality start with two earned runs allowed over six innings. He tied a season-high with seven strikeouts.
\n\u00a0
\nThe Islanders got a run back in the eighth inning on an RBI ground out by Jarrett Flaggert but that was as close as they got for the remainder of the game. William Andrade<\/a> threw two innings with one unearned run allowed.
\n\u00a0
\nSkylar Jones<\/a> shut the door for his first save of the season after he retired the side in order in the ninth. Jones struck out the last two batters to finish off the sweep.

\nINSIDE THE BOX
\nNewman had two hits and three RBI while Curley and Evan Rogers<\/a> each added two hits. Smith also went 2-for-3 with two runs scored. Adcox went 1-for-3 with an RBI. The Privateer pitching staff had 10 strikeouts on the night. Andrade and Jones did not allow a hit over the last three innings.
