Dallas Trinity\u00a0FC earned a clean sheet victory over Tampa Bay Sun FC on Saturday to maintain a four-point cushion for the final playoff spot in the Gainbridge Super League standings.<\/p>\n
Trinity downed Tampa Bay 2-0 behind a pair of first-half\u00a0goals from McKinney native Samar Guidry and Mansfield’s Camryn Lancaster, with goalie Tyler McCamey securing her second shutout of the season.<\/p>\n
“We knew in the second half that they were going to push and try to come after us a little bit,” head coach Nathan Thackery said after the win. “I was happy with our intensity and composure to combat their efforts.”<\/p>\n
Guidry started the scoring right out of the gate for Trinity with a goal in the second minute, piping a shot past the Tampa Bay goalie off a nice lead from Lancaster. It was the first goal of Guidry’s professional career.<\/p>\n
Lancaster would score herself not long after, firing one into the corner of the net in the 27th minute.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019ve been working really hard. Every single week, no matter the final score, we\u2019re learning from the result that happened,” Lancaster said. “We\u2019ve been coming to training focused and having a good mindset heading into the next match.\u201d<\/p>\n
