It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Calallen<\/a> had no problem doing just that on Friday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Somerset Bulldogs<\/a> a 10-0 shutout. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 22 matchups by six runs or more this season.<\/p>\n Jordyn Thibodeaux<\/a> made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out eight over 4.2 innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn’t given up a single earned run in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI.<\/p>\n In other batting news, Kylie Butcher<\/a> was incredible, going 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Addison Juarez<\/a>, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two RBI, one run, and one double.<\/p>\n The victory was the 17th in a row for Calallen, bringing their record up to 28-8-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.1 runs over those games. As for Somerset, their defeat ended a 12-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 29-8.<\/p>\n Calallen will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Bulldogs: the pair’s next game is a rematch scheduled on Saturday.<\/p>\n
