In the 1980s, hedge-fund manager Howard Rachofsky visited the Richard Meier-designed High Museum of Art in Atlanta. He was so impressed by the building that he asked Meier to design a home for him in Dallas.<\/p>\n
It was around this time that the renowned architect was selected to design the Getty Center in Los Angeles, Howard said, and he didn\u2019t expect Meier to have time for \u201ca little house in Dallas, Texas.\u201d But to his surprise, Meier agreed, telling Howard \u201che liked doing houses as laboratories for developing bigger ideas, and if I was patient, he would be interested in working with me.\u201d<\/p>\n
