<\/p>\nRex’s Seafood in the Dallas Farmers Market will serve its last platters of oysters on May 17, 2026.<\/p>\n
The restaurant will transition into Dock Local, a seafood spot in Dallas-Fort Worth and Nashville. Dock Local’s model is to operate in food halls, making it a fit for the quick-service counters at the Dallas Farmers Market. Dock Local operates already in Grapevine’s Harvest Hall, Plano’s Legacy Hall, downtown Dallas’ Exchange Hall and Nashville’s Assembly Food Hall.<\/p>\n

The Rex’s that came before it operated at the farmers market for over 10 years.<\/p>\n
What’s next for Rex’s<\/p>\n
After Rex’s closure, the owners will\u00a0focus on the flagship by the same name, a sit-down restaurant and market on Northwest Highway, near NorthPark Center.<\/p>\n
“Over time, the Rex\u2019s brand has evolved into a more full-service, elevated model, so closing the quick serve concept felt like a natural next step,” co-owner Beau Bellomy said via email.<\/p>\n
His father, Rex, started the restaurant 20 years ago.<\/p>\n

The impending closure of the Dallas Farmers Market restaurant will not affect the Northwest Highway location, Beau Bellomy said.<\/p>\n
In 2023,\u00a0his family purchased S&D Oyster<\/a>, a seafood shop on Dallas’ McKinney Avenue approaching its 50th birthday in fall 2026. The family is also involved in the expansion of Richardson-born Mexican restaurant Sue\u00f1o, which will soon open in Snider Plaza<\/a>, near Southern Methodist University.<\/p>\n Rex’s Seafood at 920 S. (DMN file)<\/p>\n What to expect at Dock Local<\/p>\n Dock Local was created to bring seafood to landlocked cities.It started as a food truck run by Maryland native and chef Brett Curtis.<\/p>\n When Dock Local opens at the Dallas Farmers Market, it’s expected to be the fourth in D-FW and the fifth overall.<\/p>\n Dock Local’s “lobsta” grilled cheese is decadent.
