CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas \u2014 In a 7\u20132 vote, the Corpus Christi City Council approved changes to the city\u2019s drought restriction guidelines that will slightly loosen water-use rules for residents during a water emergency.<\/p>\n
The decision comes after recent rainfall improved local water conditions and pushed back the expected start date for a \u201cLevel One Water Emergency.\u201d<\/p>\n
Under the updated rules, restrictions on Corpus Christi residents will be eased while officials continue monitoring water supply levels and drought conditions across the region.<\/p>\n
The newly approved changes include raising the city\u2019s curtailment baseline, which determines water reduction requirements, and once again allowing residents to wash cars and boats with non-potable water under the revised guidelines.<\/p>\n
City officials say the adjustments are designed to provide residents with more flexibility while still encouraging responsible water conservation practices.<\/p>\n
