The final decision was left to the police chief.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRather, the Chief proposed a three-day suspension and Sheriff Nanos resigned rather than serve the suspension,\u201d Cool wrote.<\/p>\n<p>News stories <a href=\"https:\/\/www.azcentral.com\/story\/news\/local\/arizona\/2026\/03\/09\/pima-county-sheriff-chris-nanos-resume-incorrect-work-history-misrepresented\/89069315007\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">published by The Arizona Republic<\/a> about Nanos&#8217; work history in El Paso prompted the Pima County Board of Supervisors to request a sworn statement from Nanos addressing his work history and the suspension of two employees during the 2024 election.<\/p>\n<p>After one supervisor\u2019s attempt to remove him from office failed, the remaining board members voted earlier this week to <a href=\"https:\/\/tucson.com\/news\/local\/government-politics\/article_3b53c1c9-aee6-4c3d-b0f4-0e09159b275b.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">refer perjury allegations<\/a> to the Arizona Attorney General\u2019s Office. Those allegations stem from a deposition Nanos gave in a lawsuit filed by one of those suspended employees, Sgt.
