Can Dogs Eat Steak?<\/p>\nA simple birthday dinner for a beloved pet turned into a viral moment, after a local Texas Roadhouse added a heartfelt touch to one customer\u2019s order.<\/p>\n
Angela, 43, from eastern Ohio, wanted to make her Golden Retriever Clifford\u2019s fifth birthday extra special. After a fun shopping trip to Pet Supplies Plus, she decided to treat Clifford\u2014and his canine sibling\u2014to kids\u2019 steaks from her local Texas Roadhouse.<\/p>\n
\u201cI called in the order and mentioned I wanted to get two kids\u2019 steaks, one for each of my dogs, and that it was my dog Clifford\u2019s birthday,\u201d Angela, who didn\u2019t give a surname, told\u00a0Newsweek. \u201cThe lady taking the order didn\u2019t say much, she just keyed it in and gave me the wait time.\u201d<\/p>\n
When Angela got home and opened the takeout bag, she found a surprise\u2014the lid of Clifford\u2019s meal container had a handwritten message: \u201cHappy Birthday Clifford!! :)\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cIt made me smile,\u201d Angela said. \u201cIt was such a sweet gesture. I was already making a TikTok about Clifford\u2019s birthday shopping day out, and this was just the perfect way to end his special day.\u201d<\/p>\n

While steak can be given to dogs<\/a> as a special treat, there are safety considerations to keep in mind.\u00a0<\/p>\n According to the pet nutrition experts at PetMD, dogs\u00a0can\u00a0safely enjoy steak\u2014but only if it is properly prepared. It should be cooked thoroughly and not raw<\/a>, trimmed of excess fat, cut into bite-sized pieces appropriate for the dog\u2019s size and free from dog toxins<\/a> such as garlic, onion or excessive salt.<\/p>\n Bones should also be avoided because they can pose serious choking or intestinal-blockage risks.<\/p>\n Alongside the video, Angela explained that Clifford did not have any of the rice from the Roadhouse as it contained onion. Instead, she made them their own plain white rice.<\/p>\n Angela described her pets as \u201clike her children,\u201d adding that spoiling them is \u201ca regular occurrence\u201d in her home.<\/p>\n What she was not ready for was the response online as the TikTok video<\/a> gained more than 1.2 million views.<\/p>\n \u201cI don\u2019t have much of a following,\u201d Angela said. \u201cSo a video going viral wasn\u2019t expected\u2014but it\u2019s exciting.\u201d<\/p>\n Do you have funny and adorable videos or pictures of your pet you want to share?
