\u201cThe city introduced a free month of service as a way for the community to learn the service and try it out for themselves,\u201d Amanda McNew,\u00a0Plano\u2019s director of media relations, said.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Since its May 4\u00a0start,\u00a0Plano Rides has provided more than 300 rides throughout the community and logged over 700 app installations, according to the city.\u00a0The city said,\u00a0of\u00a0 riders\u00a0who\u00a0submitted\u00a0reviews for the service, 98.1% gave five-star reviews.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cPlano Rides is already helping residents get where they need to go safely,\u00a0affordably\u00a0and conveniently,\u201d\u00a0 Plano\u00a0Mayor John Muns\u00a0said in a news release.\u00a0\u201cWhether it\u2019s a doctor\u2019s appointment, a trip to the grocery store or a visit to a recreation center or library, this service is creating more opportunities for older adults to stay active and connected in Plano.\u201d<\/p>\n
After the\u00a0free ride\u00a0offer ends, fares will be $1.50 per ride or $3 for a\u00a0day\u00a0pass, and $1 per\u00a0additional\u00a0passenger.\u00a0The city\u00a0plans on\u00a0expanding services to include other residents in the future, but no exact timeline has been given.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Wheelchair accessible vehicles are available upon request.\u00a0The transit\u00a0operates\u00a0Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. and weekends from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.\u00a0Plano Rides provides services anywhere within Plano, including a 1.5-mile buffer zone outside of the city limits.\u00a0<\/p>\n
