It’s playoff time, and Calallen<\/a> had no trouble coming through when it counted. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Fredericksburg Billies<\/a> an 11-0 shutout on Thursday. Considering the Wildcats have won 25 contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday’s blowout was nothing new.<\/p>\n Calallen got a great performance from Collier Carroll<\/a> as he didn’t allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Carroll has been consistent recently: he hasn’t given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances.<\/p>\n On the hitting side, Jagger Batek<\/a> was incredible, firing off two home runs and five RBI while going 2-for-3. Those two home runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Wyatt Duke<\/a>, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one double.<\/p>\n The victory was the 21st in a row for Calallen, bringing their record up to 33-2. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for Fredericksburg, they moved to 24-14 with that loss, which also ended their four-game winning streak.<\/p>\n Calallen will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Billies: the pair’s next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.<\/p>\n
