CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas \u2014 The woman credited with helping bring public transportation to Corpus Christi is being honored for her decades of service and vision.\u00a0
On Friday, the Corpus Christi Regional Transportation Authority celebrated founding board chair Pat Eisenhauer by dedicating the RTA board room in her honor. Officials say Eisenhauer played a critical role in creating the transportation authority more than 40 years ago.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Leaders with the agency described her as a driving force behind the public transit in the Coastal Bend, helping connect residents to work, school, medical appointments. and other essential services.\u00a0
RTA officials say Eisenhauer led efforts that even required changed to state law in order to establish the transportation authority.\u00a0<\/p>\n
“Without her we wouldn’t be here,” one official said during the ceremony. “So many members of our community wouldn’t have the services that they rely on.”\u00a0
Today, the RTA serves thousands of riders across the Coastal Bend every day, with officials noting that nearly 30 percent of riders are students.\u00a0
Agency leaders say \u00a0Eisenhauer’s vision and dedication continue to shape public transit in Corpus Christi decades later.\u00a0<\/p>\n
