Traffic near an already high-density area in Tarrant County is expected to increase even more Wednesday, May 20 when a new H-E-B opens<\/a>, and the City of Bedford<\/a> wants residents and visitors to be prepared.<\/p>\n

The much-anticipated grand opening of the newest H-E-B in Tarrant County is happening May 20 at 6 a.m. at 2105 Rio Grande Blvd in Euless. The store is also near Bedford and Colleyville.<\/p>\n

The City of Bedford said in a statement that it expects heavy traffic on Cheek-Sparger Road throughout the week and especially during the store\u2019s initial opening days.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe City of Bedford is working closely with the City of Euless, TxDOT and H-E-B officials to help traffic move as efficiently and safely as possible,\u201d the statement read. \u201cTraffic signals have already been adjusted, and multiple off-duty officers will be assisting with traffic control and parking lot management during the grand opening period.\u201d<\/p>\n

The statement also said drivers should expect delays around the following streets:<\/p>\n

Cheek-Sparger RoadRio Grande BoulevardHeritage AvenueThe HEB entrance and surrounding shopping areas.<\/p>\n

The city also cautioned that if residents don\u2019t need to travel through those areas, they should consider avoiding them altogether or use alternative routes.<\/p>\n

\u201cPlease be patient, allow extra travel time, watch for pedestrians and follow all traffic direction from officers and traffic control personnel as everyone adjusts to the new traffic patterns,\u201d the city said.<\/p>\n

The grocer broke ground on the 126,000-square-foot Tarrant County store in November 2024 at the corner of Cheek-Sparger Road and Rio Grande Boulevard, down the street from Glade Park\u2019s shopping center.<\/p>\n

H-E-B has expanded into the Metroplex, by opening stores in Allen, Frisco, Fort Worth\u2019s Alliance, Mansfield, Prosper and Melissa. Dallas is getting its first H-E-B<\/a>, too.<\/p>\n

Last summer, H-E-B announced it is building a second Fort Worth location<\/a>, in the Walsh development off Interstate 20 just west of the Parker County line.<\/p>\n

H-E-B, with headquarters in San Antonio, operates more than 455 stores in Texas and Mexico and employs more than 175,000 people.<\/p>\n
